I found this piece in the San Telmo Market in Buenos Aires while I was there for a conference, between events, I would run here to search for pieces for the shop. San Telmo Market is open daily but make sure you time your visit with when the surrounding flea market is ongoing as that is what truly has the best vintage pieces.

A local staple of Buenos Aires, the origin of the “Penguin” dates back to the 1930’s when Italian’s immigrated en mass immigration and there was a boom in local wine. Unsurprisingly, the shape is very useful to pour the wine easily and freely through the beak, with enough room to easily top up when needed. These smaller ones are great for personal use.

I first noticed these in the restaurant, El Mercado, at the Faena Buenos Aires. They quite literally stopped me in my tracks so I knew I needed to bring a few back. The managers at the hotel noticed my obsession and very kindly, sent me back with my own. I also had to pick up a few for Hometings so here they are :)

The funnest thing you will ever drink wine out of.
